Apply to be North's Student Commencement Speaker

Commencement Speaker

Applications are now being accepted from students who wish to represent North as this year’s commencement speaker.

The student speaker is one of the highlights of the ceremony, which is scheduled for Friday, June 21, at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. If you are graduating and want to share your experience with thousands of graduates and their families, apply using the links below. One graduate will be selected from each of the Seattle Colleges (North, Central and South).

To apply, you must:

  •    Complete a BAS, BS, AA, AS, AAS or certificate.
  •    Apply for graduation and complete all necessary credits by the end of the spring quarter.
  •    Have a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher.
  •    Must be available for a first-round interview.
  •    Must be willing to commit to practicing your speech with the Communications team, record your address on camera in May, and attend and participate in Commencement in June.

Applications are due Friday, April 12.

This webpage has all the information you need, including the application form. Preparing your speech is straightforward. It should be about three to five minutes long – or about 500 to 750 words. If you are chosen, you will get help with editing and rehearsing. Your speech will be video recorded in advance (likely the first week in May) to allow you to present your best. You will also be invited on stage to offer a few comments after your video is played on the T-Mobile Park Jumbotron screen.

Thank you for considering this fantastic opportunity to represent North’s 2024 Class of Graduating Tree Frogs! If you have any questions, please contact Jeanette Miller, dean, Student Support Services, or Mike Sprouse, director, Communications.
