League for Innovation Literary Contest Winners Announced

Announcing the winners and runners-up for the 2017 League for Innovation Literary Contest! North’s Lisa Wasikowki won first place in the essay category for her entry, “He Doesn’t Know.” In the poetry category, Perri Greeley received an honorable mention for the poem, “A Lengthy Wetness."

North and District Board Honor Newly Tenured Faculty

Chancellor Shouan Pan and the Seattle Colleges District Board of Trustees formally honored 15 newly tenured faculty members at the Tenure Recognition Reception on Thursday, March 9, at Seattle Central College. Among those acknowledged were five faculty members from North Seattle College: Alexandra Abeyta, Hugo Alamillo, Charles Eckard, Beth Goss and Zola Mumford. North Seattle College also honors faculty member Stephanie Solomon, who recently received “core status” as a full-time instructor in the Intensive English Program (IEP). “Core Status” is essentially tenure for faculty in the IEP, which is a contract program.

Wine Donations Needed by Ed Fund

The Education Fund is looking for wine donations for our annual gala May 18, Building Dreams (at the Seattle Aquarium). Donated wine will be used as part of the “Wall of Wine” game. We’ll take anything drinkable (!), just as long as it’s a standard size bottle (750mL). Your in-kind donation to the Education Fund is tax-deductible.

Bring bottles to the Ed Fund offices (CC 2355D or CC 2255A), or we’ll pick them up from you.

Tickets are still available for the gala: $150 for individual seats/$1200 for a table of 10. Purchase online at nscef.ejoinme.org/tickets.

North Seattle College to Close at 5:30 p.m. on Monday Feb. 27 due to Weather

Due to inclement weather, North Seattle College evening classes and events will be canceled and offices closed starting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27. This includes all classes or events that start on or after 5 p.m.
