On behalf of Project Baldwin, Springboard 8, Umoja, and the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Community. Join us at the Seattle Colleges Juneteenth honoring and celebration — also known as Emancipation Day and Freedom Day. With the signing of House Bill 1016, signed by Governor Inslee on May 13, 2021, Juneteenth is now a legal State holiday in 2022. The Bill reads that Juneteenth should be a day for people “to engage in fellowship with Black/African Americans; revisit our solidarity and commitment to anti-racism; educate ourselves about slave history; and continue having conversations that uplift every Washingtonian.”
RSVP and masks strongly encouraged for planning and safety purposes.
