Message from the President : Black Lives Matter

Black Live Matter

Today, Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County is organizing a statewide general strike and silent protest march. We recognize our students, employees and community are engaging in the conversation to advocate for social justice and for Black Lives Matter. We stand with you.
When our most vulnerable communities are impacted, we are reminded of how much work still must be done for our students, faculty, and staff of color. As a college, we are committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and we stand up for marginalized communities.
North Seattle College has agreed that our mission is to change lives through education. This includes promoting equality, social justice, and equity. In this, we stand in solidarity with those who want a better community and country for us all.
The Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at North Seattle College stands for “dismantling institutional practices, polices, and infrastructure that are the root cause of equity gaps. While leading with mindfulness practices of peace, modeling love, and giving grace to all.”
At North Seattle College,
We stand in support of our students and employees who advocate for social justice.
We stand for an anti-racist community.
We stand with allies from all communities.
We stand with Black Lives Matter.

With hope and gratitude,

Chemene Crawford, Ed.D.
President, North Seattle College
