Rocketry Club Soars: Eight Students Achieve High-Power Rocketry Certifications
Eight members of the North Seattle College Rocketry Club earned high-power rocketry certifications on June 14 in Pasco, Wash.
Leading the achievement, George Sidles and Aiden Hunter earned their Level 2 High-Power Rocketry certifications shortly after receiving their Level 1 certifications. The Level 2 credential also requires candidates to pass a written examination.
In addition, Ellis Andral, Logan Cram, Aria Okamailuk, Abdullahi Musse, Nikita Filippov and Corey Dixon earned their Level 1 certifications.
Awarded by the National Association of Rocketry, high-power certifications require participants to design and build a rocket, successfully launch it and safely recover it after flight. The rockets typically reach altitudes between 2,000 and 3,000 feet.
The Rocketry Club welcomes students of all experience levels. During summer quarter, the club meets Thursdays at noon in the Rocketry Shop in the College Center building. Students interested in rocketry can participate in rocket construction, electronics development, or command-and-control programming.
