Rocketry Club Members Earn High-Power Certifications

Four members of the North Seattle College Rocketry Club earned high-power rocketry certifications on May 3 during a launch event in Pasco, Wash.

Club president Kelly Souza achieved her Level 2 certification, which also required successfully passing a written exam. Fellow members George Sidles, Alisina Salih, and Maya Knowles each earned their Level 1 certifications. These credentials, awarded by the National Association for Rocketry, require participants to design, build, launch, and safely recover a high-power rocket capable of reaching altitudes between 2,000 and 3,000 feet.

Additional club members contributed to the day’s activities as well. Aiden Hunter completed a high-power rocket launch, while Logan Cram assisted with rocket setup and launch operations.

The Rocketry Club meets Fridays at 1 p.m. in the Rocketry Shop, located in the CC Building. The club welcomes students of all experience levels—no prior rocketry knowledge is required. Members can explore building rockets, developing electronics, or programming command-and-control systems. Learn more about NSC clubs.
