After a spirited Super Bowl rivalry with North Seattle College, Quinsigamond Community College President Dr. Luis Pedraja is living up to his end of a friendly wager.

Ahead of this year’s matchup, President Pedraja and President of North Seattle College Dr. Rachel Solemsaas agreed to a collegial bet. Whichever president’s hometown NFL team lost the Super Bowl would wear the winning football team’s apparel and share the moment on social media.

Since the New England Patriots fell short this year, President Pedraja donned Seattle football gear for a celebratory photo to be posted across QCC’s social media channels. (See photo.)

“Our Patriots may not have made it this time, but at QCC we celebrate excellence in all its forms. Today, that means celebrating the Seattle Seahawks and having a little fun with it,” said President Pedraja. “Sharing moments like this with our community college colleagues reminds us that collaboration is about more than just the work, it’s about connection. Our partnership with North Seattle and President Solemsaas even came with a bit of levity.”

The presidents created the wager as a way to bring students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters together during the excitement of the Super Bowl season. The good-natured competition generated engagement from both campuses, with community members cheering on not just their NFL teams, but their colleges as well.

"My good friend Dr. Pedraja's new Seahawks outfit is a real winner! Congratulations to the team at QCC and the New England Patriots on a fantastic season,” said Solemsaas. “We've had a lot of fun with this friendly Super Bowl wager and appreciate the sportsmanship shared between the North Seattle College Tree Frogs and the awesome Wyverns. All of us here in the upper left-hand corner of the country are in celebration mode, and the party isn't about to end any time soon. Go Seattle. Go Seahawks!"
