Student Spotlight: International Business Graduate, Boris Robles-Slyusar
When Boris Robles-Slyusar enrolled at North Seattle College, he didn’t expect his path would lead to a senior marketing role at a global EdTech company. He began by taking college-level business classes to earn an associate degree, drawn by his entrepreneurial drive and the versatility of business skills.
He soon discovered he could continue at North and earn a bachelor’s degree in International Business without transferring. “This was a perfect way to continue learning in the welcoming environment I already got used to,” Boris says.
One of the most impactful experiences of the program was completing an internship. Although initially intimidating, it became a career-launching opportunity. Boris describes it as “the most rewarding experience that helped me jump-start my corporate career.”
Today, Boris is Senior Digital Marketing Manager at Educative Inc., an e-learning platform for developers and data professionals. His degree prepared him to manage global projects, collaborating with colleagues across the U.S., India, Pakistan, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
After graduating from North, Boris continued his education through a master’s program in Information Technology Management via North’s partnership with Central Washington University. He says the degree helped him “learn technical skills, which went hand in hand with my bachelor’s degree from NSC.”
Boris encourages current students to take advantage of every opportunity. He advises them to “search for internships (paid or unpaid). You never know where it may lead you. At least, you can always tell yourself that you tried. My suggestion is to not look for shortcuts.” He also emphasizes the importance of relationships: staying connected with professors, alumni, and classmates can open doors to new opportunities and foster lasting friendships.
For Boris, North Seattle College provided more than just a degree. It gave him the foundation, connections, and confidence to build a career that reaches across the globe.
