Notice of Upcoming NWCCU Accreditation Visit May 1-3, 2023

The Northwestern Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) will perform a comprehensive accreditation evaluation visit to North Seattle College (NSC) on May 1-3, 2023. The purpose of this visit is to evaluate NSC’s compliance with the NWCCU accreditation standards and policies. During the visit, an NWCCU evaluation team will meet with campus students, faculty, staff and leadership to evaluate NSC’s accreditation status, in conjunction with NSC’s 2023 Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report.

In preparation for the visit, NSC invites members of the NSC community, as well as members of the general public, to provide comments regarding NSC’s qualifications for accreditation. All signed comments will be forwarded to the visiting evaluation team and to NWCCU.

Comments should be sent directly to NWCCU by April 15, 2023, in order to be fully considered in the accreditation review:

Stakeholders can learn more about the upcoming visit and accreditation and submit comments electronically at the following link here.

NSC is currently accredited through NWCCU, and last had its accreditation reaffirmed in 2016. Accreditation through NWCCU means that NSC meets the Commission’s established standards of educational quality and effectiveness. A Year Three Mid-Cycle Evaluation Report was completed in February 2019, a Year Six Report on “Governance, Resources, and Capacity” was submitted in February 2022, and NWCCU subsequently confirmed NSC’s accreditation status.

A copy of NWCCU Policy A-5, Public Notification and Third Party Comments Regarding Full-Scale Evaluations can be found at the NWCCU website www.nwccu.org (via the Standards and Policies and then Operational Policies links), or by contacting the Commission office at (425-558-4224).
