What is your favorite class to teach, and why?

The pre-college classes because students usually arrive not wanting to be there.  I see it as my job to gently convince students that it’s useful.  There’s a diverse group of students.

Matthew Rogge’s $100,000 victory got its start at North Seattle Community College

Mattew Rogge paddles the prizewinning 3D printed boat

Matthew Rogge (NSCC grad, spring 2012), a mechanical engineering transfer student, guided a three-student team to victory and $100,000 in prize money at the 3D4D Challenge, an international technology competition held at the 3D Printshow London 2012.

NSCC’s Entrepreneur Success Center is in the Right Place at the Right Time says The Start-up Genome.

The Start-up Genome announced that Seattle is 4th in the world for start-up ecosystems, just behind Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and Tel Aviv.  Factors that contributed to Seattle’s success include a wealth of tech talent, strong support and willingness to adopt new technologies.  This is excellent news for North’s Entrepreneur Success Center which offers workshops, lectures and one-to-one support for start-up businesses.  For more information, go to
