North Seattle College (NSC) was recently awarded grants totaling $761,000 by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), to support and expand aerospace, healthcare, and early childhood education training programs at NSC.

NSC received a $160,000 Aerospace High Demand 1000 FTES Redistribution grant to expand training in the areas of Industrial Power and Control and Mechatronics. Students graduating from these interdisciplinary programs qualify for jobs in advanced manufacturing settings, such as Boeing, that rely on high technology, automated machinery to produce their products.

NSC is leading a Hospital Employees Education and Training (HEET) grant totaling $444,000 to strengthen healthcare training pathways across the Seattle Colleges. Grant funding expands advising and navigation services to help students explore the many options available in healthcare training and establish education plans to meet their individual goals. The project also builds services for students already working in healthcare who want to advance in the field.

An Early Achievers grant of $157,000 helps early learning educators complete certificates and associate degrees in early childhood education at NSC. With a program designed to serve students who already work during the day, evening and weekend classes support the training needs of professionals committed to providing high quality early learning opportunities for young children.

These grants will contribute NSC’s success in providing training that meets the employment needs of our community, while providing students with opportunities to advance in their chosen fields.
