NSCC Gets Stimulus Funds

North Seattle Community College was recently awarded $248,000 in stimulus funding from the King County Workforce Development Council (WDC)  for cohort training.  The funds will support 20 students who are either dislocated workers or Workforce Investment Act-eligible adults through a 3-quarter nursing pre-requisite pathway that includes completion of the college’s Nursing Assistant-Certified program and the most common nursing school pre-requisite classes.  North is implementing the project in partnership with local community-based organizations such as TRAC and Associates and Pacific Associates, who are also funded by the WDC to provide case-management support to students during their time in the program.  Students began their coursework in fall quarter and will complete it in spring 2010.
