North to Open Historic Equity and Welcome Center on Campus April 29

North Seattle College is proud to invite the community to the historic grand opening of the college’s first ever Equity and Welcome Center on Monday, April 29, from 2-4 p.m. The grand opening will be held in the new center located in College Center Building, Room 1151.

The center was created in partnership with the President’s Diversity Inclusion Council for Equity (DICE), the Office of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion and the three Associate Vice Presidents of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion.

The new center represents a milestone for the campus around equity work because it brings together the college’s Multicultural Center and Gender Equity Resource Center all under one roof, allowing increased collaboration. It also will establish an official Welcome Center so that the campus is more open and accessible to all.

“It has taken many caring hands coming together as one to make this vision a reality for the campus community,” North’s Associate Vice President of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion D’Andre Fisher said. “None of this would be possible without the hard work of our multicultural students, gender equity students, student leadership and for the faculty and staff who have given their time, talents, and treasures to this work. Finally, to President Warren Brown and his cabinet members, for the approval of the Equity and Welcome Center as well as the space that will house it.”
