ECE Grad Provides Professional Teaching Curriculum

Dr. Samantha Dolan—coordinator of Early Childhood Education (ECE) and faculty for the ECE class in Cognition, Math and Science at North Seattle College—says her students were really excited to learn that the video modules they are using in their study of children’s cognitive development are the work of Soleil Boyd—a North ECE graduate herself who went on to get her Ph.D. in the field at the University of Washington. “Dr. Boyd’s expertise and way of making information accessible to teachers has been a great benefit for our students,” says Dolan.

League for Innovation Literary Contest Winners Announced

Announcing the winners and runners-up for the 2017 League for Innovation Literary Contest! North’s Lisa Wasikowki won first place in the essay category for her entry, “He Doesn’t Know.” In the poetry category, Perri Greeley received an honorable mention for the poem, “A Lengthy Wetness."

North and District Board Honor Newly Tenured Faculty

Chancellor Shouan Pan and the Seattle Colleges District Board of Trustees formally honored 15 newly tenured faculty members at the Tenure Recognition Reception on Thursday, March 9, at Seattle Central College. Among those acknowledged were five faculty members from North Seattle College: Alexandra Abeyta, Hugo Alamillo, Charles Eckard, Beth Goss and Zola Mumford. North Seattle College also honors faculty member Stephanie Solomon, who recently received “core status” as a full-time instructor in the Intensive English Program (IEP). “Core Status” is essentially tenure for faculty in the IEP, which is a contract program.
