Help Plan North’s 50th Anniversary in Fall 2020

North Seattle College will soon be celebrating its 50th anniversary! The college first opened its doors to the public in fall 1970 and, in that time, has made a profound impact in our community and the lives of our employees, our students and their families. The official kickoff of our 50th will be in fall 2020 and be followed with celebrations throughout the year, culminating with the Commencement ceremony of our 50th graduating class.

Join the Committee or a Subcommittee
To commemorate our history and look toward the future, North has launched a 50th anniversary planning committee. If you’d like to join the committee or one of our subcommittees, please email Melissa Mixon and Melissa.mixon@seattlecolleges.edu

Sub-committees that will need participation include:

  • History—includes projects like helping to tell our story to date, designating land as historical space, history of the land (Duwamish tribe, Kumasaka family farm.)
  • Events—planning key events and activities throughout the anniversary celebration. Examples: Open House, Re-opening of the college for the next 50 years, alumni forums, family event
  • Fundraising/partnership opportunities—examples including creating a giving campaign, creating Distinguished Alumni Award, Gala, etc.
  • Scholarships—already in the works with creation of first ever Duwasmish scholarship, but looking for more ideas and help.
  • Marketing, Branding, Signage, Swag
  • 50th Website

Survey Input
The college would also like your input on the branding of the campaign, so we’ve created a brief online and confidential survey. Please take a look and share what’s important to you in a 50th anniversary campaign.

Share Your Story and Photos!
Finally, we want to hear directly from you about how North has transformed or enriched your life. Please take a moment to share your story—including old photos or other memorabilia—by filling out a new Share Your Story Form on our college website. This form is open to the public and will be publicized as a way to collect stories from employees, students, alumni, community members and more about how North has been part of their lives.

Thank you for your time and your help with this important process to honor North's history and everyone who has been a part of it.
